The Powers of the Sphinx

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

In this class, we'll be discussing the Four Powers of the Sphinx: Knowledge, Will, Courage, and Silence—as well as the secret Fifth Power. We'll discuss the nature of these Powers, why they're important for the magician, and how to cultivate them. We'll also look at the symbolism of the Sphinx and the Kerubim, as well artistic and literary depictions of these symbols and their appearance in esoteric traditions like the Tarot and the Qabalah. We'll draw on the writings of Eliphas Levi, Aleister Crowley, and others. This class will be suitable for beginners, and we'll also include material that will be of interest to more experienced practitioners. All are welcome!
